Daaaaaa Da Da Da Da Da!

Clarissa (top) Clarissa and her cousins (middle) Clarissa and I at lunch before the play..

We girls became more cultured this weekend by attending the Broadway play, Phantom of the Opera. My mother-in-law treated daughters and oldest granddaughters to a fabulous 2 1/2 hours of great music and stage performance.

Clarissa is sensitive to sound. So when the chandelier dropped and they set off some fireworks she dropped her binoculars on the ground. They became unreachable under the seat of the woman in front of her. So we waited for intermission to retrieve them. Bummer! We still enjoyed ourselves.

The "lair" boat scene, complete with the fog and candles, was remarkable. The stage looked like a cave with water. That was a great part. I Loved the Masquerade scene and Clarissa liked Christine when she was singing..."Think of Me". Clarissa noticed the clothes and costumes the most. She kept telling me she would like a dress and then told me ways she could make it more modest. Do I have a future "Shade (modest clothes) fashion designer" on my hands?

Sequel? I read that Andrew Lloyd Weber announced he was working on the musicals sequel, in Feb. 2007, called Phantom: Once Upon Another Time. The sequel was delayed in May 2007 when Lloyd's cat Otto, "clambered onto the digital piano and managed to delete the entire score of the sequel. Lloyd Webber was unable to recover any of it from the instrument, but was able to recall enough of it in his memory to eventually reconstruct the score."

Wow! How fun is that? I am so happy you could experience Phantom with Clarissa. I would have loved to have been there to watch Clarissa soak in the music, costumes and sets. I bet she was in heaven. The only thing better than reading about it would have been going with you. Maybe someday...

So fun! I love Phantom! I saw it like 15 years ago and next month I am taking Cameron along with some other couples for his 35th Bday! That was so nice of your Mom in law to treat since it costs so much. Maybe I'll take my girls in a few years! I missed seeing you at church. We need to get together now that school has started? When can you come visit?

Fun fun! I have never thought to go take my kids to something like that, we went to a local Opera once with the big kids and they loved it but it was a comedy. ??? Clarissa is so sweet!
